CAN BRITAIN LEARN FROM EUROPEAN FLOOD PREVENTION MEASURES?
Wednesday 26 January 2011
For the latest instalment of the Europe and You programme, Quadrant’s Andrea Mott and Georg Von Harrach asked whether enough is being done in the UK to protect our homes and businesses from flooding.
Jacqueline McGlade from the European Environment Agency and Conservative Julie Girling MEP, were quizzed by Andrea and Georg on the current problems faced by the prospective onset of severe flooding in the UK and Europe.
A newsworthy topic, as recent floods in Britain posed many questions about the measures we have in place for such torrential weather conditions. This special studio debate offers thoughts on how Europeans can work together to create successful flood risk plans.
The monthly programme is produced by Quadrant's broadcast division and is filmed at the European Parliament. Europe and You looks at the issues and stories happening in Brussels and Strasbourg which affect people's lives back in the UK and regularly features MEPs & industry experts.
