Specialist pub company Celtic Inns has appointed Quadrant as its PR agency to increase its profile in Wales and South West England as it expands its portfolio of tenanted community pubs.

The company, created in 2002, currently owns some 60 pubs, and aims to develop that through an aggressive acquisitions programme into an estate of over 100 within the next three years.

The company has recently restructured its financing to fund an acquisition war chest of some 10 million by securing loan finance from Royal Bank of Scotland, while Sand Aire Private Equity has taken a minority equity stake.

Quadrant's role will be to promote the company's activities at an interesting time for the pub sector, which is dealing with new licensing laws and the possibility of a ban on smoking in public places.

Celtic Inns managing director Duncan Murray said: "Over the next three years we are looking to expand more into South West England and along the M4, and acquire more pubs in our Welsh stronghold too. We are confident that Quadrant will help us drive our company forward and achieve our goals."
