Businesses from South Wales took part in the annual Tenovus Corporate Golf Day, on Wednesday 29 June at the Marriott St Pierre Hotel & Country Club, Chepstow, organised by Quadrant, raising over 2,000 for the charity.

The event which has been running for the last three years was sponsored by the Monmouthshire Building Society. Alan Roderick, marketing manager at the Monmouthshire Building Society, said: "The work Tenovus does in providing support for cancer patients and research into treatments for cancer is invaluable and we are delighted to be able to support this worthwhile charity. The Old Course at St. Pierre is a fantastic golf course and everyone who took part had a thoroughly enjoyable day."

Dr Richard Walker, chief executive of Tenovus, said: "This event is growing year on year and it is always enjoyed by everyone. Without the generous support of the business community in events such as this, Tenovus would not be able to fund its activities. There is strong evidence to show that exercise has a vital role to play in helping to prevent cancer and what better way to do that than by enjoying yourself on the golf course. With the Ryder Cup coming to Wales in 2010 there is a great deal of corporate interest in Welsh golf."
