BARE YOUR BRA FOR BREAST CANCER
Friday 07 October 2005
Quadrant client, Tenovus, the national cancer charity, is encouraging us to bare our bras in support of breast cancer. First off the mark were James Davies and Sadie Pool of directory enquiry company 118 118, whose staff all donated £1 to cancer research to wear a bra on top of their clothing, and now Tenovus is hoping that other companies will follow suit.
“With October being breast cancer awareness month, we thought it was a good idea to promote the need for women to be ‘breast aware’ while raising much-needed money for research,” said Tenovus’ Kylie Parfitt.
Tenovus’ campaign, You or Me – Cancer: a challenge for all of us, highlights that one in two of the population could have a cancer 15 years from now if no action is taken. Currently, a case of breast cancer is diagnosed every 12 minutes, and 13,000 women die each year from the disease, so the charity encourages women to visit their GP if they notice any unusual changes to their breasts.
