QUADRANT BROADCASTS ADVANTAGES OF POD-CASTING
Monday 26 June 2006
Corporate communications company Quadrant is to offer clients pod casting as part of its normal media relations programmes. It will put companies using the Cardiff-based PR specialist at the forefront of communications technology.
The company which operates throughout the UK and mainland Europe will offer the pod cast service to all its clients. It will enable Quadrant to record audio broadcasts on behalf of companies and post them on the internet as MP3 files for instant download by radio stations. It aims to increase its broadcast division sales by over 40 per cent this year to about 1.4 million.
Over 350,000 has already been invested by the company in maintaining and upgrading its broadcast capability. Quadrant believes that the web-based communications market offers huge potential for growth, since the majority of businesses have yet to exploit the use of audio and video-streaming as a means of promoting and developing their businesses.
A recent survey by the UK Business Barometer found that nearly three quarters of small and medium sized companies have no idea how to take advantage of the marketing opportunities presented by pod-casts.
Quadrant is already successfully providing the service for the European Parliament, with daily audio downloads for every radio station throughout the UK and the Republic of Ireland.
Broadcast quality interviews are recorded by Quadrant then loaded on to a special website, details of which are sent to relevant radio stations. Broadcasters can review the news item and download the interview with a click of the computer mouse.
Said Quadrant?s chief executive, Bill Jenkins: ?Many businesses are just waking up to the huge potential of web-based communications. Quadrant leads the field in broadcast PR in Wales ? there is simply no-one else who can do what we do from in-house resources. We are also one of the UK market leaders and a significant player in mainland Europe, mainly as a result of major contracts with the European Parliament.
?Pod casting gives our clients a real advantage over their competitors when it comes to securing media coverage. The ease with which radio stations can download sound bites and interviews greatly increases the amount of coverage a client can expect.
?Because we are one of the very few PR companies in the UK that can do everything in-house, it means we can monitor quality from start to finish. We can also provide clients with detailed information on which radio stations used the pod-cast and for how long.?
In addition to audio broadcasting on the web, Quadrant also offers its clients video-streaming, including live or recorded web-casting.
