BROOMFIELD and ALEXANDER ANNOUNCES NEW JOINT VENTURE

Independent chartered accountants, Broomfield & Alexander, announced today that it will be joining forces with national financial planning company, Carrwood Barker Financial Planning Limited, as part of a restructuring programme. Broomfield & Alexander’s Financial Services Division will now become part of Carrwood Barker Wales Limited, which will be run jointly by Broomfield & Alexander and Carrwood Barker. All other divisions will remain wholly owned by Broomfield & Alexander and will continue to trade under the Broomfield & Alexander name.

Robert Preece, senior partner at Broomfield & Alexander, said: “Over the last few years Broomfield & Alexander has experienced significant growth in its business advisory services. The partnership with Carrwood Barker is key to this continued development, and will allow us to expand our Financial Services Division to offer a broader range of financial services to our clients.”

John Wilkinson, managing director of Carrwood Barker, said: “We are delighted to be joining forces with Broomfield & Alexander and see this as an opportunity to create a company that we feel will become a major player in the provision of financial services in Wales.”

Carrwood Barker Wales Limited will offer specialist advice in all areas of financial services and planning including healthcare, mortgages, corporate pensions, general insurance, estate planning, trusts and investments. All advisers will be salaried to ensure independent professional advice un-influenced by consideration of commission payments.

Mr Preece concluded: “As the company has grown we have developed a core range of services aside from the traditional accountancy services, which require specialist knowledge and expertise, such as raising corporate finance and accessing government funding. We are now being recognised as leaders in these fields for SMEs and feel that the time is now right to formalise this and restructure other areas of our practice to ensure we continue to offer our clients the best range of services and advice.”

Established in 1912, Broomfield & Alexander is one of the largest independent chartered accountancy firms in Wales with more than 80 employees working from offices across South East Wales.

Carrwood Barker was formed in 1994 as a joint venture with Ford Campbell Chartered Accountants. It specialises in providing advice to clients of chartered accountancy practices and has joint ventures with accountancy firms in Manchester, Leeds, Reading, London and Liverpool.
