LATEST BOARD MEMBERS FOR PORT AUTHORITY
A chemical engineer from Texas and the general manager of the ChevronTexaco refinery in Pembroke are the latest appointments to the Board of Milford Haven Port Authority.
The appointments of Darrell Jacob, aged 50, and Philip [correct spelling] Walters, aged 48, to the 13-strong Board have been confirmed by the Secretary of State for Transport.
A native Texan, Mr Jacob is currently General Manager of TotalFinaElf’s Milford Haven Refinery. His career has taken him across the United States in a variety of roles in the oil refinery business, and until recently he was assistant general manager and production manager of Atofina Petrochemicals’ refinery in Port Arthur, Texas.
A native of Pembrokeshire, Phil Walters is general manager of ChevronTexaco’s Pembroke plant, and a member of the management team of ChevronTexaco Europe and West Africa. Prior to this, he held positions in Human Resources, Public Affairs and as a Business Unit Leader Import/Export within ChevronTexaco. He holds a Masters degree in Engineering Management.
Port Authority chairman Bob Clarke said the experience of the two new members would add to an already broad-based and capable Board.
“Milford Haven is an increasingly active and competitive port in the UK and world markets, with a reputation for service and safety,” he said.
“We have ambitious plans for the future to maintain the investment and jobs levels in the local economy here, and the experience of these two senior executives from key businesses which we work with closely will be an invaluable asset to us.”
