TIME RUNNING OUT TO ENTER FIVE COUNTIES BUSINESS AWARDS
Businesses in Blaenau Gwent, Caerphilly, Monmouthshire, Newport and Torfaen are being reminded that time is running out for them to enter the Five Counties Business Awards, which are sponsored by independent professional advisory company, Broomfield & Alexander and organised by ngb2b. Entry is open to all businesses with an ‘NP’ postcode in the five unitary authorities that make up the former county of Gwent.
The aim of the awards is to celebrate the success of businesses within the area and the eight categories are open to businesses from all sectors and of all sizes. The winner of each category will receive a prize package worth approximately £1000. The categories are:
- New business of the year – sponsored by Newport & Gwent Enterprise
- Business of the year (1 – 10 employees) – sponsored by UK Steel Enterprise
- Business of the year (11 – 50 employees) – sponsored by Broomfield & Alexander
- Business of the year (over 50 employees) – sponsored by ngb2b
- Exporter of the year – sponsored by Wales Trade International
- Best use of ICT/eCommerce – sponsored by Wales Information Society
- Award for innovation & entrepreneurialism – sponsored by University of Wales College Newport
- Business woman of the year – sponsored by Gwent Business Women’s Network
Sarah Case, associate partner at Broomfield & Alexander said: “This is the first year that these awards have been run. It is important that we celebrate the success of local businesses as it is a way of encouraging others to follow suit and a driver towards continued growth and development for the local areas.”
The awards form part of ngb2b’s Five Counties Business Week, which runs from 10 – 14 November and is sponsored by the WDA, Torfaen County Borough Council, Monmouthshire County Council and Newport City Council. Events during the week will include an exhibition and seminar in Newport Centre on all aspects of running a business. Subjects to be covered include how to start a business, marketing and growing your business, understanding your accounts, stress in the workplace, an introduction to international trade, accessing funding and advice on franchising your business. The awards ceremony will take place on Friday 14 November in the Newport City Live Arena.
