IT MANAGER ACHIEVES WELSH FIRST

Paul Taylor, manager of the IT department at independent professional advisory firm, Broomfield & Alexander, has become the first person in Wales to be awarded the IT Management Level Four National Vocational Qualification (NVQ).

The 18-month long training programme was funded by ELWa under the Modern Skills Diploma for Adults (MSDA) scheme and was delivered by Hill Management. Hill Management is a well established training provider in South Wales, delivering NVQs to Level Five and providing management development programmes.

Gareth Hill of Hill Management said: “I have worked very closely with Paul over the last 18 months and am delighted that he is the first person in Wales to achieve such a high level of work. An external verifier said that Paul’s work was the highest standard he had seen at this level in England and Wales. As well as being a major personal achievement for Paul, it is also of great significance for Broomfield & Alexander as Paul starts to put his newly acquired skills into action.”

In order to obtain the qualification Paul had to prove competence in project management skills, systems evaluation, performance testing, assessment of business IT requirements, IT strategy and defining operations requirements.

Paul said: “Working towards this qualification has formalised my working practices. It has provided me with better project management skills and has allowed me to review and analyse the IT and business requirements of Broomfield & Alexander in greater depth than before.”
