COMMUNITY GROUPS RECEIVE PORT AUTHORITY SUPPORT
A wide range of community groups in and around Milford Haven has benefitted from donations from Milford Haven Port Authority of over £4,300 so far this year.
The figure was revealed as the Authority announced that organisations ranging from Haverfordwest Operatic Society to the Pembrokeshire Classic Car Club and Milford Haven Soroptimist International had been supported in the first quarter of 2004.
The requests for support from groups operating in the community are considered on their merit by a unique committee of staff members from all departments throughout the Port Authority Group.
The Committee’s chairman, Deputy Harbourmaster Bill HIrst, said that, as a Trust Port, the Port Authority had always placed importance on the way in which it operated within the community.
“We try through the work of this committee to support the community by providing investments which generate local economic activity, employment and recreation opportunities,” he said.
“I am delighted that we have been able to help some very good causes so far this year.”
