APPOINTMENT TO PORT AUTHORITY BOARD
A chemical engineer who has worked extensively for the oil company ChevronTexaco in Canada and the United States is to join the Board of Milford Haven Port Authority.
Des King, originally from Suffolk, worked for the company for over 20 years in Edmonton, Canada, and Richmond and San Fransisco in California, and become General Manager of the company’s Pembroke refinery earlier this year.
Mr King, who holds a PhD in chemical engineering from the University of Cambridge, is set to bring his expertise to bear on behalf of the Port Authority when he joins the Board later this month.
Chairman Bob Clarke welcomed the perspective Mr King’s experience would bring. “The port of Milford Haven has worked – and will continue to work – very closely with the oil industry, and we are delighted that someone of Des’ calibre will be alongside us to ensure that relationship is maintained.”
Des King said, “Texaco’s Pembroke refinery this year celebrates 40 years of operations and we have always seen the value in working together with the local community. I look forward to continuing the company’s close association with the Milford Haven Port Authority as a member of the Board.”
