RACE GOERS ASKED TO WATCH THEIR SPEEDS THIS WEEKEND
For the safety of all road users, the Safety Camera Partnership is asking competitors and supporters of the Aberdare Park Road Races that is taking place this weekend, to observe the speed limits. Mobile camera enforcement units will be operating on the A465, A470 and A4059 during the weekend.
John Rowling, project manager for the Safety Camera Partnership, which is responsible for static and mobile speed camera enforcement in the Dyfed Powys, South Wales and Gwent police force areas, emphasised the importance of sticking to the speed limits and asked for the co-operation of all road users at the event.
“We want people to enjoy the Aberdare Park Road Races, but we want them to do so safely. We will be enforcing the speed limit on routes around the event and ask that people be aware of their speed and adjust their driving accordingly. There is a time and a place for speed and for the safety of all road users people need to respect the speed limits that are there for a reason,” he said.
“We are seeking prevention rather than cure. We do not operate a policy of catching people out, and for this reason, we are warning people beforehand that there will be an increased level of enforcement in the surrounding area.”
