PORT AUTHORITY APPOINTS NEW WATER RANGER
Millford Haven Port Authority & Pembrokeshire Coast National Park Authority have appointed a fresh pair of eyes and ears to help people get the best out of the Haven in the shape of a new water ranger.
Based at the Port Authority offices, John Warneford’s role will be to get out and about to liaise with the various users of the waterway, such as boat clubs and schools, and ensure that they are aware of the role of the Port Authority and National Park Authority within the waterway.
He will be carrying out waterbourne patrols, and will be responsible for regulating the use of the water and ensuring that by-laws are observed - especially the restriction zones imposed on recreational users – as well as recording any infringements.
John, aged 30, said that he aimed to ensure that everyone who wanted to use the Haven could do so safely without interfering with others, and with respect for the area’s beautiful environment.
“Although the job can be hectic at times, I am looking forward to doing everything I can to work with the wide range of users of the Haven to increase its use as a recreational venue.”
John’s previous job was Activity Liaison Officer of the Pembrokeshire Marine Code Group and Outdoor Charter Group. This involved developing sustainable leisure activities and putting together a Code of Conduct for water and land based users within Pembrokeshire.
