MOTORISTS IGNORE NEW A4055 SPEED LIMITS
Motorists are ignoring new speed limits on the A4055 Cogan Spur road, prompting concerns from roadworkers for their safety.
Top speeds of up to 65mph have been recorded by Mid & South Wales Safety Camera Partnership through the roadworks for the new International Sports Village development in Cardiff Bay, despite a temporary speed restriction of 30mph.
Phil Davies, manager of Mid & South Wales Safety Camera Partnership, said that there was no excuse for speeding through the roadworks, putting lives at risk. “The reduced speed limit and camera enforcement is signed in advance so motorists really have no excuse for putting their foot down through the roadworks,” he said. “We’re asking all motorists to be patient and slow down while the roadworks are in place. The restricted speed limit is there to protect motorists and the construction workers, not to catch people out.”
A permanent 40mph speed limit has also been introduced further along on the Barry Road section of the A4055 and is being enforced for the duration of the roadworks.
