WESSEX TO VISIT CHRIST COLLEGE
HRH The Earl of Wessex will visit Christ College Brecon, on Friday 26 May. After viewing various Duke of Edinburgh activities in his role as trustee of the scheme, he will officially open the new De Winton Boarding House extension, built to meet the increasing demand for girls boarding places at the school.
Ranked in the top 100 UK co-ed senior boarding schools and one of the top in Wales, Christ College has embarked upon a major development scheme to further enhance school facilities. The emphasis is on developing the science facilities, and generating scholarships and bursaries, helped by school’s fundraising arm – the Christ College Foundation and a major legacy from a former pupil.
While at the school HRH will meet headmaster Phillip Jones, Chairman of the Governors Rev Professor DP Davies, bursar Kieran Dempsey and Clive Thomas, the school’s Duke of Edinburgh Award’s officer.
