LOCAL COUNCILLOR RETURNS TO PORT AUTHORITY BOARD
Pembrokeshire County Councillor John Allen-Mirehouse has been appointed to the Board of Milford Haven Port Authority (MHPA) as a non-executive member for a further term of office.
His appointment was confirmed by the Department for Transport after Ministerial approval of the recommendation from MHPA, which followed a competitive selection process that included consultation with Pembrokeshire County Council.
John has served as a member of the Port Authority board on a number of occasions, completing his previous term in June 2005, and chairman Bob Clarke said the return of his experience and input was very welcome.
“John’s knowledge of the waterways of Pembrokeshire and of West Wales put him head and shoulders above the other candidates. It has been of enormous value in the past and I am sure it will be in the future," he said.
Mr Allen-Mirehouse, currently Deputy Leader of the Council and with cabinet responsibility for Economic Development and business support, said he was looking forward to another term of office with Milford Haven Port Authority.
“I recognise the vital role that MHPA plays in the local economy, and look forward to playing my part in shaping the future of the Authority at a time of significant change with the opportunities being created through the advent of LNG,” he said.
Mr Allen-Mirehouse is also Vice Lord-Lieutenant for the region of Dyfed, a Governor of Pembrokeshire College, a Member of the Pembrokeshire Coast National Park and a Justice of the Peace. He has a long association with the RNLI and lives adjacent to the Waterway in Angle.
