CHRIST COLLEGE BRINGS CHRISTMAS CHEER TO ROMANIA

Each year, a Brecon school sends Christmas gift boxes to a missionary in Romania who gives them to orphans and street children on Christmas Day.

Pupils at Christ College Brecon carefully prepare over 50 boxes and send them over to Deb Bishop, a former Christ College employee who now works as a missionary for the International Team in Timisoara, Romania.

This year, Deb Bishop came back to Christ College Brecon to personally collect the gift boxes and thanked the pupils who coordinated the production of the gift boxes here in Brecon.

Lynne Webber, Housemistress at Christ College Brecon, said: “It is great to have that connection with someone from our locality who will make sure that the gifts are given to children who really need a little sunshine in their lives."

Deb Bishop said: “I’m so grateful to all the pupils at Christ College for giving their time and support to such a worthwhile cause. To see the faces of the children on Christmas Day, when we give them these gift boxes is so rewarding and emotional and I’m thrilled that Christ College are able to support us.”

Deb Bishop is working at placement centres in Slavici and Damcescu and is involved in a wide variety of activities, from teaching English and crafts to supporting the workers and children. She met her husband, Steve, while working in Romania, and they have helped to build and set up a new home for the street boys of Timisoara called ‘The Bridge Boys Home’.
