ACCOUNTANTS MAKE FIRST INCREASE IN TAX EXPERIENCE

Professional advisors Broomfield & Alexander has completed the first step of a major strategic investment with the appointment of four tax advisors whose experience adds up to over 50 years between them.

Their arrival represents a commitment by the firm to develop its tax team in the coming months by strengthening its expertise and capacity, and by making a board appointment before the end of the year.

The four all join Broomfield & Alexander, which offers clients across South Wales services from audits to corporate finance and wealth management, from blue chip accountancy firms and bring a range of expertise with them.

Qualified chartered accountant Debbie Privett worked in Bristol and London before taking up a position in Deloitte’s Cardiff office 16 years ago. She specialised in corporate taxation and joins Broomfield & Alexander as a senior tax advisor providing specialist tax planning advice to a range of small and medium-sized companies.

Nathalie Waterfield spent 16 years with PriceWaterhouseCoopers in Cardiff and Bristol, qualifying and becoming employment tax manager before moving to HWCA Ltd. At Broomfield & Alexander, she takes the role of a tax advisor specialising in offering personal tax planning advice.

After beginning his career with Deloitte in Cardiff in 1995, Gavin Oliver worked in London for a top 50 accountancy firm before moving to PriceWaterhouseCoopers Bristol office in 2000. He is a qualified chartered tax advisor and worked with Clay Shaw Thomas before joining Broomfield & Alexander as a tax advisor specialising in tax planning for small and medium-sized companies and high net worth individuals.

Matthew Jeffery graduated from Cardiff University in accountancy, and after a year in business, joined Ernst and Young as an employment tax consultant in Bristol. At Broomfield & Alexander, he has been appointed as a tax advisor specialising in corporation tax for small and medium-sized companies.

Broomfield & Alexander managing director Robert Preece welcomed the strengthening of the firm’s tax division. “Board level recruitment is in the pipeline and we expect to make a formal announcement shortly which will increase our already strong capability in the area of tax, which we see as a key service for a majority of our clients.

“Our four new colleagues bring a wealth of experience with them from which the increasing portfolio of clients for whom we handle tax matters will quickly benefit,” he said.
