MYRA IN RUNNING FOR TOP NATIONAL AWARD
Myra Shacklady, the commercial director of Milford Haven Port Authority, has been nominated for a prestigious national award which celebrates pioneering businesswomen.
Myra is due to leave her post in the next few weeks to become Business Development Director for Jersey Harbour, but is in competition for the award for her work while she has been with the Authority.
She has been shortlisted in the Tourism and Leisure category of the CBI/Real Business First Women Awards for her contribution as the first female director in the 50-year history of the Port Authority and for her work developing cruise ship calls to Milford Haven.
The Awards, which will be revealed at a ceremony on 12 June at the Marriott Hotel in Grosvenor Square, London, recognise women who have broken new ground in British business life. They feature an array of high-achieving, entrepreneurial businesswomen drawn from across the UK and aim to unearth and unveil a new generation of role models – whether they are young entrepreneurs or low-profile pioneers in larger businesses.
Chief executive Ted Sangster said Myra reaching the shortlist for an Award which honoured the best in the nation was a tremendous achievement.
“All of us at the Port Authority congratulate Myra on this exciting nomination, and wish her the best of luck for June 12,” he said.
“It only underlines what we will be losing when she leaves us. We will be sad to see her go, but wish her well in her new job in Jersey.”
