THREE CLIFFS VOTED BEST PICNIC SPOT IN WALES

After months of searching and hundreds of votes being cast from picnic lovers, Three Cliffs Bay in Swansea has been named as the regional winner of the Warburtons Golden Slice Picnic Awards 2007.

The nationwide competition – launched by Warburtons to celebrate the UK’s love of loaves and the Great British Picnic – has attracted votes for everything from city parks to nature reserves from as far afield as Aberdeen to Andover. Three Cliffs will now battle it out with other regional winners, including London’s Richmond Park, Hopes Nose, Torquay and Sea Palling Beach, Norfolk, to win the UK title.

Three Cliffs is one of Wale's most picturesque beaches and is popular with surfers and climbers as well as picnic goers. Situated in the Gower, it is managed by The National Trust and Pennard Golf Club.

Sian Jones, Property Manager for The National Trust, said: “We’re absolutely delighted with the news – there are so many great picnic sites and hidden gems along the Welsh coastline and inland. It is a true compliment to have been selected especially as it was the public who voted for us.

The nationwide search for Britain’s favourite picnic spot began back in May, encouraging families to ‘roll’ out there and enjoy some quality family time in the great outdoors.
