FREE CONFERENCE FOR HEALTHY HEARTS

People with heart conditions in Caerphilly are being invited to a new conference run by Caerphilly Teaching Local Health Board next month.

The Healthy Hearts conference will take place on Tuesday 22 April between 9.30am and 4pm at St Margaret’s Park Business Centre in Aberbargoed. It is open to people with a bad heart and those taking tablets for blood pressure, with high cholesterol or using a spray for chest pain.

Free of charge, the day will include talks on diet, exercise, medication and relaxation methods. There will also be information stands and a question time with an NHS heart specialist.

To book a place, contact the PPI Team at Caerphilly Teaching Local Health Board on 01495 241244 or 01495 241297. A buffet lunch will be provided and family and carers are also welcome to attend.

Chrissie Hayes, chief executive of Caerphilly Teaching Local Health Board, said: "The aim of the conference is to make people aware of how to look after their heart by adopting a healthier lifestyle. By opening the day up to family and carers, we hope that they too will understand how diet, exercise and relaxation can help ease the condition."
