BARGOED DENTIST EXPANDS TO TAKE ON NEW NHS PATIENTS

A dental practice in Bargoed is taking on additional NHS patients after expanding into new premises.

Bargoed Dental Centre has converted and refurbished the former Boots store on High Street and is now open to patients. Five dentists currently work at the practice.

Huw Ginn, practice owner, said that the decision to relocate to bigger premises meant that the service offered to patients could be improved. “Not only will we increase the number of patients that can be seen at the practice but the facilities are now even better for staff and patients. By employing more dentists, the waiting times for appointments will reduce,” he said.

“We also have a ground floor surgery for patients who find it difficult to climb stairs and four first floor surgeries, with waiting areas on both. We’ve even introduced a children’s corner to keep our younger patients entertained.”

People wishing to register with Bargoed Dental Centre can either ring direct on 01443 831058 or call into the practice.

Bargoed Dental Centre is part of a group of four practices. More than 50,000 patients are currently treated across the practices in Bridgend, Talbot Green, Bargoed and Tonyrefail with services including orthodontics, implants and cosmetic treatments.

Since the introduction of the new NHS dental contract in April 2006, Caerphilly tLHB has worked with many local dentists to increase the number of patients who can receive NHS dental treatment. Funding has recently been made available for all dental practices to upgrade their dental sterilisation used, ensuring the highest standard of cleanliness to be carried out for the safety of all patients.

Patients in pain who are without regular dental care are able to access emergency pain relief appointments across the borough by ringing the Gwent Dental Helpline on 01633 488389 (Monday–Friday, 9am–4pm). Outside these hours dental advice is available on 0845 602052.
